
When MLS’ Colorado Rapids were bought by Stan Kroenke a few years ago from AEG and Phil Anschutz, he made his desires clear about what direction he wanted to take the Denver based team. With the construction of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and his 2007 investment in Arsenal in the form of just over 12% of the Braclay’s Premiership club, relationships were formed and now are starting to take shape. Former Watford Reserve team coach Gary Smith has been named an assistant on Fernando Clavijo’s club while also in charge of putting together what will become the Arsenal Cup, a tournament for all of the soccer clubs in the United States.
