Will they still call him Calamity James?

David “Calamity” James

Harry Redknapp must really like David James nowadays as he’s rewarded the Pompey backstop with a new contract through the end of the 2010 season.

James, who’s very solid career (36 caps for England) has been overshadowed by a couple of mistake, has led Portsmouth to a top five placing in the Barclay’s English Premier League, a call back into the England fold and an FA Cup Semi-final place.

Not bad for a 37 year old who was thought to be over the hill when Redknapp had bought him from Manchester City in 2006 for 1.2 million Pound.
