25 Mile High Skydive
Filed under: Cool Ish, WTFFrenchman Michel Fournier is attempting to break pretty much every record ever held in the world of super-Skydiving this week over Canada.
The 58 year old former French Army parachutist, pilot and military officer has a custom made balloon / gondola that will take him to the drop zone, 130,000 feet above the Earth. The ride should take roughly three hours.
Once there, Fournier will make his jump and will be wearing a specially made suit that will shield his body from the minus 100C temperature he will face.
Fournier is expected to hit Mach 1.7 during the fall, giving us the big bang that’s heard by breaking the sound barrier.
I’ve been skydiving a few times and it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done, but this is nuts.
