Jay-Jay Okocha’s Testimonial

Filed under: Jay-Jay Okocha, Retirement, Testimonials

One of the best Africa and Nigeria has ever produced has called time on a career that saw him shred players in Turkey, France and England.

Jay-Jay Okocha had his final testimonial match on Thursday at the Warri Township in Nigeria that saw a Super Eagle Best XI past a World XI 2-1 with Okocha scoring the winning goal fittingly for his Super Eagles despite playing 45 for each side.

Stars including Nwankwo Kanu (who scored the opener), Joseph Yobo, El-Hadji Diouf, Benjani Mwaruwari and former Everton striker Daniel Amokachi (who made it 1-1 for the World XI to send the fans into raptures) all took stage to pay their respects.

I always figured a guy like Okocha would end up in the MLS at some point considering the talent and ability he still possesses, especially after all those rumors last season linking him to Real Salt Lake.

Still waiting for the day some GM makes a play for Kanu.  Just saying….
