Pompey Open Talks With Crouch – Done Deal

Filed under: Liverpool, Peter Crouch, Portsmouth

UPDATE - Ol’ Arry got his man today after Peter Crouch passed his medical and put pen to paper at Fratton Park.

While the final price tag hasn’t been confirmed yet, it is believed that Pompey paid in the region of 11 Million Pound for the big striker.

“It’s fantastic to be back and the club is going places,” said Crouch. “I’ve worked here before and he (Redknapp) gets the best out of me. I’m pleased to be back.

With Jermaine Defoe and Crouch up top, you’d have to think the Portsmouth’s chances in the UEFA Cup aren’t that bad.

Peter Crouch Signing

Peter Crouch Abagail Clancy

Portsmouth and Harry Redknapp have had their second bid successfully accepted and have opened up talks for personal terms with 27 year old, 6’7″ striker Peter Crouch.

In what would be his second spell at the Pompey club (2001 – 18 goals in 37 appearances) who finished the 2007/08 Premiership season with 57 points, Crouch would link up with England partner and diminutive striker Jermaine Defoe as well as Nigerian Nwankwo Kanu.

Crouch has scored 42 goals in 135 appearances with Liverpool since 2005 and has found the back of the net 14 times in 28 matches with England.

Abigail Clancy

Will WAG Abigail Clancy be heading down to Fratton Park as well?

With Rafa looking to strengthen his squad, he has some players to sell before he goes and splashes money on players that top his list: Rafa’s hit list includes Gareth Barry, David Silva, Robbue Keane, Albert Riera and a few others.

I’m gonna go ahead and say it now, Peter Crouch will be a Portsmouth player once again.
