Guess Who’s About To Own Bud?
Filed under: Belgium, InBev NV, Money in the Bank, WTFAs of Sunday night, Anheusur-Busch Cos Inc had agreed to a $50 BILLION takeover from Stella Artois maker and Belgium based company InBev NV.
Looking to call themselves Anheusur-Busch InBev, Anheusur-Busch will get seats on the new company’s board, but how many has yet to be determined.
And don’t forget the fact that GrupoModelo (Mexican Modelo maker) owns 50% of Anheusur-Busch and has the right to choose its partner, and has yet to come to an agreement with InBev (although they remain in talks).
Remember, last month InBev started what many consider to be a hostile takeover, threatening to replace Anheusur-Busch board members with their own and both companies trying to sue each other.
InBev tried to relax Anheuser’s concerns last month, saying it would keep the St. Louis home as the headquarters for the North American region and that Budweiser would become the new company’s “flagship brand.”
InBev was formed by the 2004 merger of Belgium’s Interbrew with Brazil’s AmBev and is based in Belgium, but run by a mostly-Brazilian management team.
There goes the brand that’s been American since 1876. Tot Ziens…..
