not strange at all for europe...
from wiki:
"The 2007 European Under-21 Championship also doubled up as the European qualifying round for the 2008 Olympic football tournament. Europe's four places at the Olympic tournament are filled by the four semi-finalists. However, because England, one of the semi-finalists, do not compete at the Olympics, a play-off between Portugal and Italy, the two third-placed teams in each group, decided the fourth European qualifier. Italy defeated Portugal through a penalty shoot-out booking their Olympic place in Beijing."

so Italy joins Netherlands, Serbia, and Belgium

May be right, as we get closer we can figure it out. The Olympics is kind of strange - only a limited number of teams and not several big teams you would think would be there - England/France etc. I am not familiar with the qualification system for the event.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the east coast is 12 hours behind china. so the games that kick off at 5 PM start at 5 AM on the east coast, not 4 AM. You might want to double check that time.
