Filed under: Chelsea, MoneyThe most dynamic player at Chelsea has re-upped his deal at Stamford Bridge, signing a new 5 year deal with Chelsea and following in the footsteps of Peter Cech, who did the same just days ago.
New Head Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari showed his excitement with Michael EssienĀ putting pen to paper saying, “Michael Essien is one of the best midfield players in the world. I have always admired him and it is good for me and for Chelsea that he signs for so long.”
Essien has played pretty much every position with Chelsea except forward and keeper since joining the club from Olympique Lyonnais for 24 Million Pound back in August of 2005, appearing in over 90 Premiership matches.
On the International scene, Essien has represented Ghana just under 50 times, but pushed Ghana through to the second round at the 2006 World Cup and was named to the All-Star Team for the 2008 African Cup of Nations that took place in Ghana.
