Villanueva To Blackburn

Filed under: Blackburn Rovers, Carlos Villanueva, Chile, Transfer News

UPDATE - Not a bad way to make your debut with a Premiership side, scoring a goal and getting an assist in just 45 minutes after being out just over three weeks with Chicken Pox.

Villanueva’s form was on for everyone to see as Blackburn cruised past League Two side Grimsby 4 - 1 in their Carling Cup opener.

Carlos Villanueva

One of the many bright spots of Marcelo Bielsa’s Chilean Toulon Tournament runner ups, Carlos Villanueva has been snapped up by Paul Ince and Blackburn for 4 Million Pound.

The 22 year old Cabeza de Pina already has 12 Full Team caps to his name and has played over 125 games for Chilean club Audax Italiano.

I’m surprised that this move made it to the blog, considering that Chilean players aren’t usually mentioned as big signings. Being that I’m from Chile, I believe I hold some authority in that opinion. I hope Villaueva improves his physical condition in such a physically dominated league like the Premiership. On top of that, the Guv’nor will surely demand some defensive duties for the new man in the middle. Hopefuly this will translate into a better showing for the national team (he plays well as a sub, in Toulon he played rubbish).

By the way, I love the blog. Being that I’m a big sneaker fan and that I follow the football marketing campaigns, I read this blog constantly. Good job Dunseth, I look forward to my first Bumpy Pitch purchase.
