Sierra Mist Goal of the Week Nominees - Week 23

1. Real Salt Lake’s Fabian Espindola’s chip (Morales Assist)

2. Columbus Crew’s Eddie Gaven unmarked header (Schelotto Assist)

3. Los Angeles Galaxy’s Landon Donovan breakaway (Eddie Lewis Assist)

4. Toronto FC’s Jim Brennen breakaway (Ricketts Assist)

5. Houston Dynamo’s Brian Mullan isolated finish (Davis Assist)

I’m in between Landon’s pulling away speed to finish and Espindola’s cheeky chip with his right foot (off foot).

I actually thought Landon’s first goal was prettier.

  2. Soto says

I agree. Landon’s first goal was much prettier and would have beaten all of the other nominees. As it is, with the selection that Sierra Mist gives us, I would go with Gaven’s header.

“Am I the only one that thinks that Donovan’s other goal was substantially better? Both goals were Donovan’s first touch, but the first was a rocket of a volley from a much more difficult angle. Donovan’s speed is impressive in both, but his technique in the first goal was fantastic.”

I typed that before reading Blake and Soto’s comments. So yes, I agree, although of the goals selected, I’d go with Espindola’s as well, then Brennan’s. I’m voting for Donovan though because he deserves the goal of the week. MLS being clueless and selecting the wrong goal isn’t his fault.
