Monolith Day 1 Recap
Filed under: Music, Road Trip, TonusIt was definitely worth the 7 hour drive just for the first day of artists. Cut/Copy took the Esurance Main Stage when we arrived and got the crowd amped for the day to come. It was quite sad to hear them say it had been a while since they had been to the states just as their set was cut short because of scheduling problems. Nonetheless the 45 minutes we witnessed were enough to…
fill my electronic bucket.
There was a couple hours between some of the artists on our schedule so beer and burritos carried us over until then. Definitely more beer than burritos. The staff was rocking it. They were all into the music and the crowd, serving food and being happy keeping everyone else happy. Here’s my friend Rosie doing a fantastic job.
On the way up to the New Belgium Stage I ran into Ant from Atmosphere. What a stand up gentleman. Very appreciative of his fans and sincere with his comments.
On the New Belgium Stage we got a taste of Holy F*ck. The energy spewing from these guys was intense. I don’t who was feeding who more, them or the crowd. Next up was Mickey Avalon. I wasn’t too familiar with this guy, but a friendly kid got me up to speed. His beats were good but I was too distracted by his stage assistants.
Over at the Dell Summer Rocks tent was a nice candid interview with Dell the Funky Homosapien.
His show was just what I needed leading into the Atmosphere performance. There was a wind advisory which only gave us more time at the bar and much needed bathroom breaks.
Atmosphere put on a great performance as always. The slight rain fall didn’t put a damper on anything (besides Ant’s vynls blowing away a couple of times between songs) the stage crew kept their equipment dry with tarps and the show blasted on. Video to come soon (they’re in transit from youtube).
Day II here we come…
