Ruben de la Red

Spanish International and Real Madrid midfielder Ruben de la Red was allowed to travel back to Madrid after being released from the hospital following his face first collapse during Real Madrid’s 3 - 2 Copa del Rey first leg loss.

WARNING - Pretty intense

The 23 year old, who collapsed near the penalty area in the 13th minute and required two minutes of medical treatment before regaining consciousness is expected to undergo further medical testing.

The situation was eerily similar to the death of Sevilla and Spanish International Antonio Puerta, who collapsed on the field during a match against Getafe and died three days later.

Why is the training smacking the poor guy in the face?

I think he’s just trying to wake him up… can only imagine what was going through the trainer’s head at that point with the wound being so fresh in Spain following Antonio Puerta’s death a year ago.
