Just a day after Manchester United announced that midfielder Owen Hargreaves was flying out to Denver, Colorado to see knee specialist Dr. Richard Steadman, Real Madrid followed suit with Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy.

After the 32 year old was substituted during Madrid’s 2 – 0 Champions League loss to Juventus (the first match he started after missing out on the previous 3 matches because of the same knee), team doctors decided it was best for van Nistelrooy to head back to Steaman, the man who operated on the same injury back in 2000 when he was playing for Eredivisie side PSV.

No timetable has been set for his return.
