Everton and Nigerian striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2008 / 09 Premiership season and beyond after suffering a torn Achilles Tendon early in the first half during Everton’s impressive 1 – 0 win on the road against Tottenham.

And David Moyes problems will only get worse after the 26 year olds replacement, Louis Saha exited the game later in the second half with a torn hamstring, leaving Victor Anichebe as Moyes’ only legitimate striker available.

“He’s ruptured his Achilles which will keep him out for the rest of the season,” said Moyes of his £11.25million signing.

“And Louis Saha has a torn hamstring.

“With the victory we’ve been hit really hard with injuries and as we know James Vaughan is out for a couple of months minimum already, so we’re really short.”
