Stephen Carr Retires From Football
Filed under: Ireland, Newcastle, RetirementFormer Ireland International and Newcastle right back Stephen Carr has decided to call time on a career that started with Tottenham Hostpur back in 1993, representing Ireland 44 times at the Full Team level and ending just this past summer after leaving Newcastle.
Carr missed the 2002 World Cup with Ireland and undergoing a knee operation in 2001 that forced him to also miss the entire Premiership season and wasn’t until October 2002 that he was back to full fitness.
The 32 year olds contract was not renewed by Kevin Keegan after the 2007 / 08 season because of the impressive performances by Habib Beye and was thought to be signed after interest by Everton, West Ham and Wigan.
