Roy Carroll has not only been dropped, but suspended for two weeks as well following reports of the Northern Ireland International squaring off with Derby head coach Paul Jewell in the locker room following the Rams’ 2 – 1 home defeat to Crystal Palace.

Derby Chief Executive Adam Pearson said: ‘There was an incident involving two parties in the dressing room after the game. Paul has spoken to me about it and after consultation we have decided to suspend Roy Carroll for a couple of weeks.

‘I want to stress that his career at the club is certainly not over. It is simply a cooling-off period.

‘Football is a fickle business and things are said in the heat of the moment in the dressing-room. Feelings are obviously running high after a defeat.

‘But Paul is Derby County’s manager and with that role goes the responsibility for the dressing-room.Image via DailyMail
