Manchester United defender Johnny Evans has been rewarded with a new 5 year deal by Sir Alex Ferguson after impressing during last seasons loan spell at Sunderland and this season’s performance filling in for both Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdninand.

After last years accusation of rape following Manchester United’s Xmas party and subsequent clearing of all charges, the 20 year olds performances had garnered a lot of attention from clubs.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said last night: ‘The boy has made massive improvement. For a centre half of just 20 to show the reading of the game he does is outstanding.’
