“They’re not far from the truth. I have played 15 years at the top level and it takes its toll,” the 31-year-old told Spanish daily Sport.
“My career will be over soon and being a striker it happens much quicker. As I have said before, I have never run as much as I do now with Barca.”
That’s a pretty honest quote if you ask me. And it’s got me wondering if he has any regrets about joining Barcelona after leaving Arsenal.

It’s got me wondering if he’ll ever come to MLS after all.
why would he regret it?
i say we start a wager, see if he does move to the mls. i’ll put all kinds of money down on the idea that he will make it to the US league. he is a great marketing tool/billboard, so the mls would love to see him play.
We would love to see him play here but not at 33 or 34 after what he has been through. He doesnt need another pay day because he is loaded. I think most MLS teams are not going to pay all this money to get someone that isnt going to produce. It sucks that LA is the face of this league because they are terrible. I think the league is above a PR move now and need to look forward. Maybe an expansion team. How about a Barca team in Miami and have him go there to get the people. We all know that Miami is a terrible sports town.
TH can produce in MLS at 32-34. He won’t have to run as much as with Barca, matches up well physically with MLS defenders and is tactically sound. most significantly, he’s a deadly finisher in the box. I’d think he’d be at least comparable to JPA.
Well, I honestly think it is the different style of play involved. Barca’s style forces forwards to run off the ball consistently, in order to find the give and go situations. The person covering the most ground are the midfielders (as usual), and the wingers (Henry’s position). The constant high pressure applied by Barca in defensive sets also demands constant chase and movement.
Arsenal, while playing a swift passing game, concentrate their attack on splitting the defense with through balls, isolating defenders for 1 v 1 or crosses. All which allow players to fade in and out of the attack. Plus at Arsenal, Henry had 10 people who wanted him to get the ball versus at Barca when anyone of 4 forwards can demand the ball. Its about being the star or being the role player in a system. Now, I fear he is a role player providing for Eto or Messi, creating space for them.
I would love to see Thierry play in the MLS. He loves NY and I think ultimatley he will head over to the states. I think it would be wonderful for the league if they did get him to play.
