One of the most impressive things about David Beckham has always been his top tier fitness levels and today, despite the fact that he hasn’t played week in and week out for over two months, they were confirmed by the doctor’s at AC Milan.

Jean-Pierre Meerseeman, top medic to Milan’s players, said: “Beckham could go on for another five or six years.
“His cardiovascular readings are very good. His basic fitness is excellent. All he needs to do now is to alter his training programme slightly.”
If Meerseeman has his way, Goldenballs could even become Oldenballs by playing right up to the 2014 World Cup.
Meerseeman’s methods helped Alessandro Costacurta play until he was 41. Paolo Maldini is still playing at 40.
The doctor explained: “We test and re-test our players in every aspect of body and mind.
“David is behind the others right now in terms of match fitness. It will take 15-20 days to reach the required level.”
