Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp sealed the transfer of Portsmouth striker Jermain Defoe for £15.75million in the early hours of this morning.

The England striker will now undergo a medical before completing his switch back to the club that sold him to Portsmouth one year ago.

The 26-year-old has agreed terms, thought to be a five-year contract.

A Tottenham club statement read: “Personal terms have been agreed and the striker will undergo a medical.”.
