Trademark Rumor Fuels Madrid - Ronaldo Link
Filed under: Cristiano Ronaldo, Real MadridFor the last two days pretty much every major newspaper / website has re - ignited the Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid link after reports were claiming a pre - contract agreement had been made, but this morning a simple “trademark” article caught my eye and if true, could be very interesting.
We all know Cristiano’s affinity for his CR7 logo, from the interior of his ridiculous cars to iced up earings for his girl to his fashion stores in Lisbon so when a report is linking him with a trademark for CR9, my ears perk up like Scooby - Doo.

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly registered ‘CR9′ as a trademark - as sources in Spain suggest he has been promised the No 9 shirt by Real Madrid.
The Manchester United star had already claimed CR7 for use on merchandise and his agent Jorge Mendes has now registered the new motif with the National Institute of Industrial Property in Lisbon, according to The Sun.
Ronaldo wears the No 7 shirt for United and Portugal, but that number is already taken by Spain legend Raul at Real Madrid.
Javier Saviola wears the No 9 for the Spanish champions, but the Argentina forward is expected to leave the club either this month or in the summer.
Obviously none of us will ever know the truth behind last summer or what will happen this summer, but if he is registering the CR9 trademark, then he’s got some very smart people around him looking down the road.
