Guardado Injured, Out For U.S. Match
Deportivo La Coruna and Mexico left winger (and in my humble opinion one of, if not the best in CONCACAF) Andres Guardado has been ruled out of the U.S. v Mexico match in Columbus after suffering a stress fracture in his left leg during Depor’s 5 - 0 loss to Barcelona on Saturday.

It was feared that Andrés Guardado would have to face a long absence after leaving the Barcelona’s match with a muscular problem, and the fears were confirmed on Monday after the scans made to the player. The Mexican winger suffered a stress fracture in his left leg and it was determined that he needs six weeks for a full recovery.
This means that Guardado will miss the liga matches with Real Madrid, Villarreal, RCD Mallorca, Osasuna and Valencia, plus both legs in UEFA against Aalborg BK. These are also bad news for Sven-Goran Eriksson since the player will also miss the important clash between Mexico and the United States, confrontation that’s the first game of the final round in the road to South Africa 2010.
It was also informed that Guardado was carrying with a problem on his right leg, and that this situation might have influenced in this new injury, as the same player confessed when he was arriving to La Coruña from Barcelona, “It may be the case that the injury was caused due to a previous problem I had on the right leg, it was a stress injury in the tibia, they told me that maybe, unconsciously, I was putting the weight on the left leg, so it could be that this situation caused me to suffer an injury in the other leg.”
Guardado also confessed that the doctors at the club were analysing the possibility of resting him for some weeks in order to correct the previous problem, “A week ago they were thinking about making a pause of six weeks due the stress problem on the right leg, but I didn’t want to stop because I already had two months carrying out with the problem, so we agreed that maybe a special protection would be enough, and I would test with a new treatment for two weeks, but now this has happened and there’s no other solution than to rest and recover myself from both legs.”
The Mexican winger suffered a similar injury on the past season, actually he missed almost all the second round due to this situation.

Too bad because he is a great and exciting player. U.S. Will be happy not see him killing Cherondolo on the left flank.
well… he may be out for the game, but I wouldnt say Carlos Vela is a huge dropoff, if he is any at all T.T
