Visit to LA x Hungry = Roscoe’s Chicken ‘n Waffle

Yes… it truly does exist and its as good as they talk about. Some of my boys from college were in town and they wanted to hit Roscoe’s for dinner.

The whole chicken and waffle phenomenon started in Harlem a long time ago at a place calls Wells Supper Club. When nightclub patrons would get hungry after dancing and partying all night, the owner figured, “its too late for dinner and too early for breakfast,” lets just give them a little of both, and the chicken and waffle mix was born.
I thank that man for his genius! Its easy to go there and order too much. The beauty of it is that although its famous for the C&W, they have plenty of other soul food for your dining pleasure, but I stick to the old faithful. I think I ate too much or laughed too much, because my side hurts! and I need to lay down. By the way, I showed the before pic because the after is not pretty
I have yet to make it to Roscoe’s when I have been out there. But Versailles - the pork chop plate, oh now that I miss.
oh yeah, Versailles is definitely a win as well, they have one pretty close to my day job … you know what, I might be doing Cuban food tomorrow for lunch!

I like to put a little bit of hot sauce over the chicken and then syrup on top of that with of course the chicken and waffle at the same time. I realize it sounds disgusting, but it really isn’t. I promise.

Kristi - I might have to try that next time I go there. Oddly enough, I was at Versailles last night. It’s pretty good but a friend once took me to Havana Mania in Inglewood (right off the 405) and it was awesome! They even had a band that night. Cool guys too, their singer tried his best with one of the girls with us.
I’ve been to both the Hollywood and Pasadena Roscoe’s. My first time there was the one in Hollywood and Ma$e was there after practicing for the MTV awards. He was chilling with Ray J and his posse. The food is bomb, a can’t miss if you’re in SoCal.
