According to Forbes Magazine, Roman Abramovich was the 15th richest person in the world with a worth of over $23.5 Billion in May of 2008.  Since then, things have changed dramatically for the Chelsea owner.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has seen his fortune slashed by around nine billion US dollars in the financial crisis, according to a Russian business magazine.

Finan’s magazine today published its annual rich list, and although Abramovich has held on to second place among Russia’s wealthiest, a fortune valued last year at $23billion is now down to $13.9billion.

Russia has been particularly hard hit in the crisis and several of the country’s tycoons have seen huge amounts wiped from their bank balances.

An updated Forbes list is due in around two months.
