Mark Hughes’ injury list at Manchester City is getting longer by the day as new signing Craig Bellamy is set for a knee scan ahead of tonight’s match against Aston Villa.

The biggest concern is an injury to Craig Bellamy. City are awaiting the results of a scan on torn fibres in the Wales striker’s knee, with the player facing the prospect of up to six weeks on the sidelines. Robinho suffered a twisted ankle in the 1-0 defeat by West Ham United at Upton Park on Sunday and is a doubt for the first leg of City’s Uefa Cup round of 16 tie at home to Aalborg a week tomorrow, while Daniel Sturridge and Benjani Mwaruwari, the strikers, are a fortnight away from returning, with groin and thigh problems respectively.
“The best-case scenario with Craig is two to three weeks out but the worst is six weeks,” Hughes said. “We will look at who is available and it may be that we will change the formation around a bit with all the injuries we have.”
