ess dot and I cruised down to the El Monte Expo Center / Florentine Gardens / Boxing Gym last night to check out our boy Adam in his first amateur fight. It was a very interesting night with a lot of randomness happening at once. Big props to Adam though for getting in the ring and giving it a go.

When we get in, we find out that none of the fights had even started yet, and Adam wasn’t up until fight 10. At that point we knew it was time to get comfy in the bar. And the neon pink sign…they were everywhere. If there was something in the building that needed a sign, it was neon pink.

Here’s Adam pre-fight. Dude was fired up and ready to go. When we asked him if he was ready, he responded with this gem..

“I’ve been eating lightning, shitting thunder and chasing chickens!”

Quite possibly one of the best statements I have heard. I’m not sure if it was off the cuff or if he had that statement pre-prepared, but his delivery and his announcement of readiness was stellar.

So back to the bar…this dude was our bartender and his t-shirt was pretty epic.

Fight time…here’s Adam getting some pre-fight advice from Jerry Springer…wait what?

The fight was quick style, as they only went four rounds (which I’m sure felt like forever if you were in the fight). It’s decision time, so I had to switch to black and white…who is victorious?

The answer is the other dude. Adam put up a good fight but lost the decision. At least they both got some snazzy medals and some good memories.

Battle scars..oh, and I promise I will never put a close up of Adam’s face on here again.
