FIFA Suspends Marquez For Two Matches
Filed under: Mexico, Rafael Marquez, SuspensionsFIFA headquarters in Switzerland have announced suspensions of Mexico Captain Rafa Marquez and Assistant Coach Francisco Ramirez for TWO matches following their actions during and after the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifier in Columbus on February 11th, which includes their upcoming Qualifiers against Costa Rica at home and Honduras on the road April 1st.

Marquez was sent off in the second half for a vicious challenge on U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard and was automatically suspended for the Costa Rica encounter, but FIFA apparently felt his act deserved another game.
Ramirez, meanwhile, was the victim of an apparent mental lapse. The Mexican assistant coach slapped U.S. defender Frankie Hejduk in the tunnel after the game. Apparently, Ramirez felt Hejduk’s words were directed at him and not in celebrating with fans. Ramirez will not be allowed on the sidelines nor will he have any access to the locker room.

Perfect. Would love for Mexico to drop points on those two games.
Does the suspension for the coach seem light to you? It sure does to me!
I am glad hear this about Ramirez. A coach slapping a player in the face!? He should be canned. Can you imagine what would have happened if one of our assistant coaches had slapped Marquez for his attack on Howard? I doubt he would have shrugged it off like Frakie. Maybe he would have, but I doubt the average Mexican fan would ever let it go. Imagine the stuff they would throw at our guys when we go to Mexico if that had happened?
NO I can’t imagine what they would throw… how could they come up with anything worse than what they currently throw!!
How come Frankie didnt lay into the coach the same way Marquez laid into Howard…except with his fists. Just because hes old doesnt mean he is special enough not to get his ass kicked.
