Chivas Vice President Nestor de la Torre is looking set to take over the Director of Mexican National Teams after the resignation of Guillermo Cantu just last week.

De La Torre is expected to continue working with Chivas for the immediate future but club owner Jorge Vergara will likely need to find a new right-hand man soon enough.
On Thursday, De La Torre was around the club and talked to team personnel about his new post and expressed confidence the ongoing work with Guadalajara was productive.
“I’ve spoken to the players about it,” De La Torre said. “The confidence we have in and the responsibility each person has is immense. That’s how we’ve been managing this. There are no obligations, only responsibilities.”
De La Torre is the only remaining front-office member to have survived the purge from when Vergara took over.
