There’s been some serious coaching movements at Newcastle this year and it’s been easy to forget that even when owner Mike Ashley has given a manager his walking papers, he hasn’t always come away unscathed in the bank account.

Newcastle’s hiring and firing spree in the past two years will cost the club £15million in compensation once the costs of removing Dennis Wise and Kevin Keegan are taken into account.
Since Glenn Roeder was sacked and Sam Allardyce appointed as manager in May 2007, Newcastle have embarked on an astonishing turnover of coaching staff under owner Mike Ashley.

Payouts for Roeder, Allardyce and their staffs totalled £5.72m and the club will now have to pay Wise more than £1m in addition to a potential £8m that is claimed by Keegan and is currently being negotiated.

The huge sums are on top of the £1.8m Alan Shearer will earn if he manages to keep Newcastle up.
