Adriano Walks Away From The Game

Adriano

There are so many things that we as fans take for granted when watching our favorite teams or stars throughout the world, mainly that of them just being people first and foremost. Sometimes it’s not about how talented a player is or could be if they could just get their minds straight. No, sometimes it goes a lot deeper on a personal level than we could ever imagine.

Unfortunately for Brazilian International and Inter Milan forward Adriano, the time has come for the person to walk away from the game following his admission that he needs to for his own health.

“Right now I am only thinking about my health,” Adriano admitted in the press conference with Sky Sport24.

“This is my reasoning behind why I want to stop playing football, at least temporarily anyway.

“I have lost the passion to play,” Adriano added, in relation to the fact that he is solely focused on dealing with his own personal problems for now.

The 27-year-old went on to discuss his current contract with the Nerazzurri, and that he is prepared to sacrifice that as well.

“I am prepared to give up the money of my salary if need be.”

According to Dr. Marco Aurelio Cunha, who followed the Inter striker during his loan stint at Sao Paulo in the second half of last season, the player has serious mental problems.

“Adriano needs help, he should be followed by psychologists and psychiatrists because he has disturbances he cannot control,” he said to daily paper Extra. “He wants to drink, if he goes out at night he can’t stop. And he hates to be reprimanded the next day, and gets depressed.”

Dr. Cunha also thinks the Brazilian doesn’t surround himself with the right people.

“He is surrounded by groupies, not friends,” he continued. “There isn’t one who is able to keep up with him. He needs to be reminded of his responsibilities; the problem is himself.”

alcoholism is a terrible disease and I know firsthand how terrible it can be. such a talent, too bad he has lost the passion. lets hope he can get back into it.

God bless Adriano I hope he finds himself and finds his passion for the game again. Not a big Inter fan nor Brazil but I hate seeing players taken out of the game before their time.

Wow, I didn’t realize it was this serious…. There must be so much pressure for brazilians or something. I remember Ronaldo having a panic attack and passing out in the ‘98 World Cup just before the problems. I hope he gets better soon, I mean who cares about football sometimes there are bigger things. If he never plays again, but ends up being healthy I would take that anyday.

I meant Ronaldo, before the finals… Not problems. But, he had his issues as well after that. Again, it’s gotta be some serious pressure being Brazilian and a great player. I will never understand it, and I’m glad.

Well he is still young and might do him some good to go home and take a couple years off and if he does get the passion back im sure there are about 15 MLS sides that would want him. By then it might be 18…

Adriano is a whackjob and has been for quite some time. His talent is undeniable. He’s a star when he wants to be and when his heart is in it. Adriano has pissed a large portion of his career away. But kudos to him for taking a step back. He’s absolutely during the best thing for himself. I hope he has a good support system around him. He’ll need it. This is the time his true friends will be come out. Alcoholism is a nasty thing to shake. You may become sober but it lives deep inside you forever. I wish him the best. I just hope the paparazzi shows a little respect and leaves him be. Unfortunately I doubt they will.

I’ve actually partied alot around not with Adriano. It is sad to see the richest and most popular person at a small club the drunkest and most incoherent. I don’t really feel any pity for him. I wish him luck though because he will for sure need it.
The problem is he gets paid an appearance fee from a shady African guy to appear at multiple clubs in one night. Partying to 7am is not the right idea.

This is sad… one of the most exciting players in my eyes when he was at his best right before the 06 World Cup. Too bad, I hope he gets it together and comes to the Fire someday haha.
