The 24 year old man who threw the coin that struck Referee Mike Dean during the Cardiff - Swansea derby has been arrested and charged “in connection with missile throwing.”

The Wirral official was left bleeding from an injury above his right eye during the match.

The incident happened in the 42nd minute of yesterday’s Coca-Cola Championship clash at Ninian Park.

The referee needed medical treatment for the injury he suffered in the 2-2 draw.

South Wales Police confirmed a 24-year-old man from Pontypridd has been charged in connection with a missile throwing incident.

He was released on bail to appear at Cardiff Magistrates Court on April 20.

    Toronto fans. Still blows me away that you can throw anything at players/coaches/anybody on the field, and it’s considered a good thing.
