Liverpool Fan or not, I believe this story should be added to TheOriginalWinger as it has had a profound effect on changing the way we go to football and how stadiums are built(more specifically in England). Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough Football Disaster.

There were 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death as a result of police forcing fan into an already overcrowded terrace and to add insult to injury the police did not assist those being forced onto the pitch because of the overcrowding, then alledgedly trying to place the blame solely on the fans saying they were all drunk! Ages of those that died were as young as 9 years old!

The next day the newspaper, The Sun, reportedly had “the truth”: Fans pick pocketed the dead, beat up police, pissed on the dead!

After the above allegations were proved to be incorrect and lies, The Sun has still not apologized 20 years on. That is the reason for the boycott.
