China has been racing to create a home-grown auto industry since it started building highways, all part of its long and winding road from communism to capitalism. It has achieved a lot but nothing prepared onlookers for the audacity of China’s Geely at the Shanghai Motor Show, a carbon copy of the Rolls Phantom, right down to its winged hood ornament.

The Geely GE is a concept car, which means it might never be built for sale. Typically, auto companies set their designers free to dream on concept cars, and the concept cars are a point of pride in the car designer community–a way to cement a designers’ career by showing off his or her creativity, vision and originality. Apparently Chinese designers don’t yet share that tradition.
I don’t know if I would drive one, but this joint is not a bad look AT ALL!!! I am feeling that throne in the back. That’s crazy!
