The 2nd Annual “Golfin’ For Juels”

Juel

With the loss of our Sister, Daughter, Wife and Best Friend still fresh in all of our minds, it’s been an emotional couple of days with Mother’s Day and the family taking part in the Susan G Komen – Walk For The Cure up here in Salt Lake City (in honor of the memory of Juel Sears who lost her fight against Breast Cancer) during the weekend.

But with sadness also comes the laughter she’d want us to be able to share together, especially with The 2nd Annual “Golfin’ For Juels” set for this Sunday at the Stonebridge Golf Course. If you have any desire to make any type of donation (which will be going to the Rocky Mountain Candlelighters, fighting childhood cancer), please see the flier above for information.

Juel’s Story after the Jump……

Golfin For Juel’s – 2008

One of my close friends, Juel, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. After a long, hard year of surgeries and chemotherapy, she thought that things were starting to look up for her. Almost a year later to the day she was told the one thing that any cancer survivor does not want to hear. It had come back and spread. This means another long road for her, with more surgeries and chemotherapy. She has stayed positive and kept the attitude that she is going to win this time. I want Juel to know that I admire her strength and courage through this rocky ride her life has taken her on. It has made me realize how precious life is. At times we all seem to take our life for granted. Juel’s life was changed forever in a matter of minutes. I can only imagine how she is feeling during this time in her life. In the past few months I have seen Juel less and less, not because we don’t want to see each other. But, the demands of motherhood take up a lot of my time. She is also having a much harder time with this round of chemo. I just want her to know that I love her and am always here for her.

Juel’s best friend, Tina organized a benefit for Juel last Sunday. She dedicated the past few months of her life to raise money and get sponsorship to put on a golf tournament. Golfin’ for “Juels” It was amazing to see the love and support for Juel and her dedicated, sweet, loving husband, Garrett. There was a total of 72 golfers and 12 volunteers to help the day be a success. They were able to raise enough money to cover Juel’s medical bills and help with other expenses they have accrued during this process. I want to thank my family and close friends for all of their donations to help make this day a success. The day ran smooth and everyone had a good time. I was the photographer and made sure all the volunteers and golfers were happy during the tournament. It was a long hot day with lots of beer consumed, which we were all feeling by dinner.
