The dates have been set for the 2010 World Cup Qualification Play-Off matches between New Zealand vs the 5th place Asia Qualifier ( Saturday 10 October and Saturday 14 November 2009) and the 5th place South American Qualifier vs 4th place North, Central and Caribbean Qualifier (Saturday 14 and Wednesday 18 November 2009) with home and away distinction sorted on June 2, 2009 during the FIFA Congress in the Bahamas.

In Europe, all nine group winners will qualify directly for the FIFA World Cup. The eight best second placed teams will contest play off matches to decide the four teams which will join the group winners on in South Africa.
