Gareth Barry Makes Move to Manchester City

Filed under: Aston Villa, Manchester City

Looks like Gareth Barry will head to Manchester City after they paid Aston Villa £12m and have given Barry a weekly salary of £100,000. Damn! Note to other teams…want to close a deal? Offer players absolutely ree-dic-u-lous pay packages and see how quickly the deal gets done. Bingo bango..done deal! Damn, dude really came up on this on. Barry had mentioned his desire to play in the Champions League as a key reason he wanted to leave Villa, but with City finishing 12 points behind Villa, what’s the real motivation for the move?

In my mind I like to imagine the conversation Barry had with his agent went something like this…

No kidding…I dont see City making the CL at all unless they get rid of Hughes and pick up some key players. Unless…

Overjoyed myself, no Barry to Liverpool, done and dusted.
He will do well at City, fresh challenge, and a team with a bigger squad, that might if they are lucky not run out of steam like Villa did.

I’m sure the money played a big ginormous part in this but it isn’t hard to envision a future where Man City gets into the champions league before Villa.

Arsenal is there for the taking and the only way to bash into the top four is to spend money on players like a big 4 club would.

Of course if Barry would have played better during the final third of the season he would already have championship football for next season. Maybe he isn’t a player of that caliber.

Not to be one of those guys who believes everything he hears, but……………. Kaka to Real Madrid? Really?

wouldnt be surprised if City try and counter. If this deal goes through, I dont see Real spending the dough to try and get CRon to move. If theyve got that kind of money…wow.
