Cruz Azul has officially presented Enrique Meza as their new head coach for the fourth time in his career, just weeks after walking away from Pachuca following the disappointment of failing to capture the 2009 Clausura.

“I have coached Cruz Azul three times already and I thought that at my age I would not get another opportunity,” said “Ojitos” Meza upon his official presentation

as La Maquina’s new manager. “I am happy to be here because this is a team that I hold dear to me, this is where I was born into football, and to arrive as coach for a fourth time to a club of great prestige is an honor.”

Meza, who spent the past three years at Pachuca’s helm, led los Tuzos to the Clausura 07 league title, Copa Sudamericana Championship, and two CONCACAF Champions Cup. The glory achieved at Pachuca has raised Meza’s expectations but he does not want to promise anything other than hard work.

“I want to be champion.. If I am asked today, I would answer that I want to be champion with Cruz Azul. To compromise or promise things that I can not deliver that is not something that I like to do, but to give the best of myself that is what I will do,” Meza told reporters. “I know that the fans have the need to celebrate something big and that is what we will try to get for them.”
