Manchester United Accept Real Madrid’s £80m Ronaldo Bid

Holy $#@*…In news that the whole world has been discussing since euro 2008, and that secretly everyone knew was coming, Manchester United has agreed the sale of one Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid for a staggering £80m. I don’t study international monetary markets, so I’m not hip to the latest Great British pound to American dollar figure, but that is some serious scratch. World record ish…

”Manchester United have received a world-record, unconditional offer of £80million for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

”At Cristiano’s request - who has again expressed his desire to leave - and after discussion with the player’s representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player.

”Matters are expected to be concluded by 30 June. The club will not comment until further notice.”

Now according to the above quotes, the deal isn’t done. But I’m pretty comfortable saying that this is a done deal. Add this to the £59 Real Madrid paid for the services of Kaka, and Real Madrid looks like they are bringing back the Galacticos on some 2009/10 ish. The 2010 Champions League final is slated for the Bernabeu, and if Real Madrid don’t challenge for the final on their own home ground something might be seriously wrong. However, if all of this does go down as reported, how do you bring two of the world’s biggest stars into a team and expect that everything will ride out smoothly? That seems easier said than done…Either way, looks like Real Madrid wants to be back on top of the footballing world.

I think this might be the end of CRon7 at United…so let’s ride out with this (music even seems fitting)…

Good for both sides.. Cristiano gets to go where he wants, United makes a shit load off a player they got as a teenager and drop his weekly wages.
Money in the kitty to go after Ribery, who could be the only player that could replace him / and would be available…

Losing Ronaldo, and I guess Tevez will go - that’s a lot of goals (and in-form players) walking out the door. Ribery isn’t that prolific. I wonder if Fergie has something else up his sleeve…

Exactly…I dont think Ribery will produce 20+ goals every season. Im not sure who they could put in his place to do that. Benzema maybe? Hell keep Tevez and slide Rooney onto the wing haha.

bad news for UTD, prob go after Benzema and Ribery…but a shocking blow to their morale..stroppy hairgel king will find plenty to pout about as the new hardman target in la liga and real will find that buying the most expensive player wont necessarily equal success, their defense has major problems…

I’m bummed. I haven’t felt like this since United dismantled the Treble winning side from 99. I hate it when they sell my favorite players. Now I hope for another excellent #7 to rise out of Old Trafford.

Not really anyone as marketable as Ronaldo, think it’s a huge loss for United, not that i’m complaining, Ribery is fantastic, but with a boat race like that he isn’t going to bring money in…….. Tevez could possibly stay now, Benzema is an option, but hardly earth shattering.
    Robinho?
