Rossi gets a brace in Italy’s win over the US.  This picture hurts bad, and I could say a lot…another revealing photo after the jump…

Hey, hey, three American-born players scored in the game.

Hah, I had meant three goals were scored by American-born players. Ohh, still in what-if mode.

Just think. If he played for his home country like any descent man, we would have beaten Italy today 3-1.

I know you can’t actually say that would happen but we probably would have won.

Come on… don’t blame Rossi. If we were playing the way we did in 2002, we wouldn’t care that he left. We’d probably see it as a sign that we have arrived on the world scene. Also, we have taken many players who are far more “non-American” than Rossi could be considered “non-Italian”. In fact, Rossi moved to Italy at age 13 to play in Parma’s academy, which has far more foresight than the guys we decide to cap in their 20s. He made the decision early and stuck to it. Some critical US players are very much players who adopted us: Thomas Dooley, Earnie Stewart, David Regis, etc. IN FACT, we’re about to add another one to the mix… Jermaine Jones. He’s German, has caps for Germany, but under the new FIFA rule will be allowed to play for us after October since he’s never played in a WC qualifying game for Germany. Expect him to run the midfield next summer in S. Africa. Look him up.

Hey relax guys, look I absolutely hate Italy, and want to see the US team be successful. But here is a scenario to ponder, say your mom was Brazilian, but married some guy in the US. So you grow up in a household engulfed with Brazilian culture. One of the things that comes with that is a passion for soccer. Its developed out of your Brazilian heritage, the chances of you developing a love for soccer because of the passion Americans have for the game or for the American game is slim. You think you would pass up the chance to play for the Brazilian national team, a team you have idolized since you were born. Plus you would have the chance to play alongside players you have followed since your youth, and possibly follow in their footsteps.

All I can say is……get me some Jones of Germany ASAP!!! He better be in the Gold Cup Squad…Jozy needs way more minutes and better be double booked for the Gold Cup……we need to bring up younger US internationals (dual citizens) to the SR team so they feel that the USSF is interested in playing them on the senior team!

I’m just glad now that against brazil we won’t have a too defensive minded midfielder (no Clark-suspension & no-Pablo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) this next game, the US needs to get Freddy Adu in there…he and Jozy have lit Brazil up before.

If you had the choice to play for Italy or the US what would you pick? Sure we would like to have him, and everyone who is saying “we didnt want him anyway” is lying, but we dont and he is now playing for one of the best countries in the world. The choice was easy. Play for a team that has a chance to win the world cup or any tournament they play in or a team that isnt going to win a tournament other than the Gold Cup during his career. Play for a country that will idolize you for playing for them or a country that doesnt even know who you are or what you do…

Rossi is a DICK! sure he went to Parma when he was 12 or 13 but he then went to Man U soon after and now he’s at Villareal. He barely spent time in Italy. He was born and lived the majority of his life in the US. That’s who he should be playing for plain and simple.

  12. smokedgouda says

F-that, you traitor apologists. Rossi is a great player but a little puke with no soul. He should never step foot in the US again. His family should leave the US and go back to Italy.

  13. Nick says

Consider this: If Rossi played for American suburban soccer clubs during his teens, would he be as good as he is now? His blood is Italian, his skills are Italian, and obviously he feels Italian too. Sure, it sucks that he’s already better than anyone who has ever pulled on a U.S. jersey, but don’t blame him for following his dream. If it was 1995, no one would have even noticed that he left.

  14. Alex says

Rossi can suck one. Great player… but… just… go suck one.

and is it just me or does Jonny Spector look alot like McBride in that second picture?

[…] getting murdered left and right by media and fans alike here in the United States while all the talk in Italy is that he should be back playing his club ball in the country […]
