The United States finally got a piece of good news during the Confederations Cup after Egypt confirmed that the man who scored two goals against Brazil, Mohamed Zidan has been ruled out of tomorrow’s match against the United States after failing to recover from the hamstring injury that forced him out of Thursday’s 1 – 0 win over Italy.

“Zidan will not be able to play against the US,” Egypt assistant coach Shawki Gharib said on Egyptian television.

“The hamstring injury he sustained against Italy is not serious, but it will prevent him from taking part in Sunday’s match.”

However, full-backs Ahmed Fathi and Sayed Moawad, who put in superb performances against Italy, were also injured against the world champions but Gharib said they should be ready to face the US.

“Fathi trained with us today, he has no problems,” Hassan Shehata’s assistant said.

“The medical team told us Moawad was 95% certain to recover in time for the match.”
