It’s presentation day once again for Real Madrid, this time for their biggest signing of the Summer Transfer window as Cristiano Ronaldo has arrived in Madrid and passed his very public medical.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be unveiled as a Real Madrid player today in front of a record-breaking 80,000 fans but the club’s new £80m record signing insists fans should not expect a repeat of Barcelona’s unprecedented Treble.

Real finished nine points off Barca in La Liga and with new Real president Florentino Perez since agreeing deals for Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema and Raul Albiol expectation is high at the Bernabeu.

But former Manchester United winger Ronaldo does not believe Madrid fans, who will gather en masse tonight to welcome the star, should expect too much too soon despite the influx of talent.

The previous record attendence for a welcome party was the 75,000 Napoli fans who greeted Diego Maradona in 1984.

‘We are going to take it step by step,’ he said. ‘The priority is the league. The Champions League is very nice, but it also depends on luck and the ties that you get.

‘It’s going to be a difficult mission to get the double, although I think we are going to do well in both.

‘We know that we must work very seriously to achieve our objectives and I think that we are going to do very well.’
