Joe X Boston X Fox Soccer Channel And The 2009 Gold Cup
Filed under: 2009 Gold Cup, FamilyWhile the rest of the BP_TOW crew was in San Diego over the extended weekend for our boy Kyle’s final run before getting married, I rolled into the old stomping grounds (12 years to the day to be exact) after my boy Joe scooped me up from Logan Airport.
More Pics after the Jump….
Everybody has an idea of the crazy history that downtown Boston have to offer, but check out the show Cities of the Underworld on the History Channel if you get a chance.
Joe made us stop for the mandatory Oyster Shot at Faneuil Hall. Vodka, Tabasco, Pepper and the Oyster at the bottom.
And because neither of us had eaten all day long, we posted up at Clarke’s for a bit.
Yup, standard for Joe. And you don’t want to know how it got to this point.
Have you seen my stapler? This is what Joe’s life looks life 5+ days a week.
Support for Manchester United or motivation to not turn out like AIG…. You make the call.
Paul Cummings, Joe’s little brother and genius extraordinaire behind the camera.
History.
Very, very rarely do you see just one car on Storrow Drive at 2pm on a Friday afternoon.
Had to make a stop over at Johnny Cupcakes on Newbury Street to pay respect.
The little things… his creations, packaging, ideas… huge fans.
Flashback time… 17 East Hoyle, the spot I shared with Imad Baba back in the day.
And the hospital across the street where Beans and I spent one crazy, crazy night. Imagine a Dave Matthews Concert (which we didn’t go to), Mushrooms (which we didn’t do), Handcuffs (which we are proud to say we didn’t wear), Crying Mother’s asking “What did I do to deserve this?” and Beans getting his tonsils lanced after 30 pushes from a Chloraseptic Spray bottle while I stood over and watched with horror in Beans’ eyes.
North End Style Deli… Don’t sleep on it.
First time in the Gillette Stadium Media Room, waiting for the US’ training session to open on Friday.
Larry Tiscornia and Greg Lalas looking on during the finishing portion of training.
Had the chance to catch up with Head Coach Bob Bradley before the FSC telecast the next day.
Had to run over to the CONCACAF room to get a new, specific press pass for the 2009 Gold Cup as things get locked up and our normal / MLS all access stadium passes won’t work.
Because it was a Triple Header (Revs vs KC, United States vs Haiti and Honduras vs Grenada), the Sat Trucks were all over the place because of three different feeds being up within minutes of eachother.
View from Booth A at Gillette Stadium. And if you’re wondering what that netting is on the left, that’s the drop for the Pre-Game show which allows the lights to go up.
The Final Rundown and notes.
An Ultimate Warrior / Revs / US Supporter getting some face time.
And with the amount of Underground Parking in Boston, you just never know what the hell you’ll find. Maybe even a pair of white socks hanging out the window or on the dashboard.
Wrapping it all up at 5.15am at Logan on the way to the gate.
But I’ll be honest… not a big fan of looking out my window and seeing peeled paint on the wing at 34,000 feet (according to the pilot). Was happy that I had WiFi the whole flight back to the SLC though.

Damn dude I was working for the Revs that night at Gillette and had to get the Gold Cup credentials from those same guys in that Renaissance Hotel haha
livin the life. i bet you feel haggard after traveling so much.
I’m a little worried that I recognized that picture as being from Clarks before I read the description…
