sounds like he’s still quite pissed at LD, bringing up professionalism in that question at the end when the guy didn’t even ask him about professionalism
I like how he explained he was committed to the Galaxy and then used examples of how uncommitted he is to explain it.
Oh yeah! I’m an honest person. I’m totally committed the the Galaxy. Except I chose AC Milan over them. Oh yeah, also if I get called up to the national team, I’m out. Anytime, anywhere.
But yes, I’m Galaxy through and through.
What’s wrong with a little honesty? Just say you thought your days of top level football were behind you when you signed. Since you learned they aren’t, you’re not cool with being stuck at the Hoboken Hampton Inn on a Friday night, fresh off a coach ticket on American Airlines. You’d rather be eating your diet-tailored meals at Milanello. No one would blame you.
Really David, I figured Keano might call you a tosser and say you had no left foot.
Thank you for this. I heard about it earlier from a common friend.
I am glad to see someone asking him the difficult questions.
i lost a ton of respect for beckham in 2008. he straight up quit on that team, after really getting after it in 2007 and the early part of 2008. that’s ultimately what pissed everyone off, so becks should look in the mirror before getting pissy with the people that are calling him on it.
What did Wahl say back to Beckham? Please report!!!
Who cares if the Galaxy are his third choice to suit up for. He bring mainstream media hype to the league and it’s good for the sport.
My girlfriend is pretty cute, but if Megan Fox came up and said, “hey big boy… wanna play?”, I’d tell my girl this: “look babe, I’m committed to you and all but Megan is reaaaallly hot. We’re gonna’ spend some time together in Italy… screwing, going cool parties and eating filet Mignon every day! Frankly, I didn’t think I could pull chicks like that but now that I know I can, I will. I’ll come back to you when we’re done. That’s cool with you right?”.
Is that the kind of honesty he was talking about?
Firstly, there’s only one Keano as I have respect for both Keano and Becks for what they did for Manchester United. Glory Glory Man United!
I think you guys are reading too much into it. He was straight up with the press. He said his commitment is to where his contract lies. Once not playing for the Galaxy on the off-season, he will do whatever in his power to reach the 2010 World Cup. He’s being a realist from a footballer’s standpoint. Sure, the perks aren’t as fancy as they were when he was playing top flight football, but that’s not what Becks is about on the field. He’s always been known as a professional throughout his career and doubting him now won’t improve his position in the current LA Galaxy squad.
There is only one player in the MLS that would turn down playing for a team overseas and that is Landycakes. LD is the only player in MLS history that had the opportunity to play in Europe but chose this mid-level league to play the rest of his career in. He is pissed that no teams want him anymore and nobody cares about him so he starts whining to anyone that will listen. Milan will always trump LA and anybody but Landycakes would choose them over LA.
