We’ve made a couple of references to an upcoming limited edition shirt we are getting set to release. We figured now was a good time to let you know a little more info on the shirt and when it will be released.
The shirt is inspired by the punk and soccer scenes of the late 1970′s / early 80′s in London. Both had huge impacts on the youth culture of the time, and they continue to be today. We were lucky enough to work with an artist, Nick Egan, that was a fixture of the punk and soccer scenes of this time period. As an artist, Nick has worked with bands such as The Clash, the Sex Pistols, The Psychedelic Furs, The Cult and The New York Dolls. He has also worked with Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren, so his credibility with the scene runs heavy. Nick is also a lifelong soccer fan, so this collaboration worked perfectly.
The graphic depicts the silhouette of a classic looking punk rocker set inside the Shed End at Stamford Bridge. Nick is a lifelong Chelsea fan and he used to sit in the Shed End with other “punks” and watch Chelsea matches in the 70′s and 80′s.
The idea was to show how these two dynamic cultures influenced one another. It’s our interpretation of how music, soccer and a specific time and location all contribute to youth culture and how they can influence an entire generation.
This shirt features some new features that we have added to the shirt and there is an added item that will be a part of this release. The shirt releases next Tuesday, July 28th.
