Hull are ready to rival Fulham in a bid for highly-rated America striker Jozy Altidore.

The 19-year-old is with Spanish club Villarreal and shot to prominence in June with the first goal for in the USA’s 2-0 Confederations Cup semi-final victory over Spain.

Fulham have watched Altidore for some time, as have Everton, but Hull believe they have a chance to persuade him he can play regularly in the Premier League and are prepared to pay around £6.5million.

Villarreal shelled out a similar fee last summer for the 6ft 1in striker to take him from New York Red Bulls but he has had little opportunity to make an impact and was injured during a loan spell with Xerez. However, he has an impressive strike rate with the national team, averaging a goal every two games.

Shouts out to Paulie for the heads up on this one!

I personally would love to see this happen.

Fuck Pelegrini. Bought him for no reason. If Hull can promise first team play then by all means. Or else I think Everton or Fulham would suit him well as he has Guzan and Howard at Everton, and synergy on the field with Dempsey.
