Sol Campbell to Notts County?
Filed under: Sven Goran EricksonI first heard this on BBC News and then saw it on the Daily Star website, and the news is that League 2 side Notts County are prepared to offer 34 year old Sol Campbell
£90,000-a-week. What! The article says Campbell is ready to sign a 2 year deal with Notts County and help Sven spearhead the club back to the Premier League. That’s serious coin for any player, let alone for one to play in League 2. Looks like Sven is prepared to back up his ambitious claims.

Some people must be simple minded. Far from splashing the cash, Notts have so far spent relatively little on players. Without exception, their new arrivals have been proven players from the lower leagues - players with some spirit and ambition who would not have moved to Nottingham without being persuaded that the club meant business. The appointment of Ericsson is surely meant to underline that the club does indeed mean business. It’s amusing that so many football hacks seem unable to understand what it is about the project that Ericsson likes, preferring to prate on about his ‘£2M per year’… which is actually a basic of £250K with the rest dependent on results. If Notts feel the need to bring in someone of Campbell’s stature, I think they’ll do it for a lot less than £90K or not bother at this stage. Graeme Lee and John Thompson did a good job against Bradford at the weekend, and former club captain Mike Edwards is on the bench.
April fools………..
