“Bono and co are currently on a World tour called the 360 degrees tour. It should be renamed to the ‘destroying football pitches’ tour. The Irish rockers have ruined 2 pitches in the last week alone leading to the cancellation of one game and the discovery of nails and glass on the playing surface right before another.”

“The Scottish third division game between Queens Park and Albion Rovers on Saturday was postponed after the referee inspected the pitch on Friday, 3 days after U2 played at the games venue, Hampden Park. Queens park think the inspection was a little premature however.

“The Scottish Football League called a pitch inspection, which took place at 12.30pm on Friday 21st August, while the programme of scheduled works was only partially complete.” -Queens Park website.

But that’s not all, U2 took their destruction south and Rochdale will be making an official complaint after glass and nails were found on the pitch before their game at Rotherham on Saturday afternoon.

“We had a report done before the game at about 1320. We found shards of glass and we found two nails as we came off the pitch. Just doing a warm-down session with the players, I found five pieces of glass. I don’t know where the blame lies for the state of the pitch but I do know the referee took responsibility for that game and, if one of our players had torn a big gash out of his leg due to glass or something, well. -Rochdale Assistant manager David Flitcroft.”

wankers: they ruined the Nou Camp as well, when I went for a tour there in July.

I’d still pay big bucks to see U2 in concert.
