Columbus Crew at Cruz Azul

Our boy Francisco sent us some behind the scene images of the Columbus Crew’s trip to Mexico City for their Group C match against Cruz Azul.

“Our trip to Mexico was unlike any other trip. It wasn’t just physically exhausting but mentally as well; from when you step out of the plane until you take off, Mexico City, its climate and culture make it as hostile as anyone can imagine. However, Cruz Azul staff were unbelievably helpful and nice towards us. So big shout out to them.”

More Pics after the Jump…..

We were escorted by 4 police cars from the hotel to Estadio Azul.

Those stairs are the only way in and out of the pitch. Now imagine 27 huuuge aAdidas bags with our equipment making its way to the locker rooms.

Post game. We had to walk between the Riot police and the bus. Hundreds of fans gathered on the other side of that fence chanting “CINCO – ZERO”.
