It has been punishingly hot these past few days in LA. This time of year, with this kind of heat brings the inevitable wildfires. These fires have been popping up around the city the last few days forcing people out of their homes and testing the fire departments. The side effect of these fires is often incredible sunsets. As I was driving tonight the sky was filled with pretty remarkable colors, so I had to pull over and take some pictures.

That’s a giant cloud of smoke. That’s pretty typical of what the sky has looked like the last three days. Good times… And just for some perspective, if you look closely, you’ll see the outline of mountains about halfway as tall as the smoke cloud.

Yes, more smoke…
