The talk of France International Franck Ribery leaving Bayern Munich has been there all summer, but is Real Madrid looking into making a 50 Million Pound last ditch effort to sign the 26 year old before the 2009 Summer Transfer Window closes?

The La Liga giants are prepared to offer about £50million for the 26-year-old, which is likely to include Holland midfielder Rafael van der Vaart going in the other direction.

Madrid believe they are in the driving seat to sign Ribery next summer for a fee of around half the bid on the table as he would be in the final year of his contract and able to use FIFA rules to resign if necessary.

But the Spaniards would prefer to do a deal now and rule out the risk of admirers Chelsea and Manchester United gazumping the deal.

Madrid and Bayern have already restored ties thanks to the transfer of Arjen Robben to the Allianz Arena last week.

Widespread reports in Spain say Madrid will fight until Monday night’s midnight transfer window deadline to finally sign a player they have been after all summer.
